Fashion Talks: Mihaela Glavan

Fashion designers really appreciate and enjoy every time their collections can be found at Fashion Days. This time we did not miss the opportunity and we had the pleasure to address some questions to Mihaela Glavan, creator of the brand with eponymous name, whose collections of shoes delight us every season.

Handmade with an unmistakable design, Mihaela Glavan shoes have a charm that is different from other brands. You will be convinced just by seeing her Fall/Winter collection in the gallery above. But in the meantime we invite you to learn more about her and the vision of Fall/Winter shoe trends from the perspective of a fashion designer.

When did you discover your passion for fashion design?

Although my professional training was a route that migrated from the economic path into arts, I always had an inclination and talent for drawing and was interested in what we wear. I used to cut, rebuild, paint and customize everything around me!

Some of your collections are signed Mihaela Glavan, while others are signed Sepala. What is the difference between the two brands?

Sepala was launched in 2003, and it became our secondary shoe line in 2008. Mihaela Glavan is our premium brand. Nowadays orders from Mihaela Glavan are made in our showroom in Bucharest for export collections and collections made for our partners in the field.

Sepala and Mihaela Glavan are brands that enjoy great success internationally, recording financial growth year after year. In which countries are they being sold?

We sell Sepala and Mihaela Glavan in Austria, Germany, England, France, Bulgaria, Spain and Hong Kong.

Now a challenging request: define your two brands in only three words!

For Mihaela Glavan, I would say premium, creative and personalized. Sepala is versatile, minimalist and urban.

Who’s the woman you address your creations to?

Mihaela Glavan shoes especially target women who already have a shaped style, who are informed about new shoe trends, and who are sensitive to special design and personalized refinishments.

Let’s focus on the new season shoe trends. What are the absolute must-wears of Fall / Winter 2014?

Stiletto shoes, boots with clippings, over-the-knee boots, flat or heeled thin and / or thick Gladiator boots (a reinterpretation of the gladiator sandal pattern), military boots and masculine shoes.

What kind of shoe design do you prefer?

My favorites are strapped sandals, and stiletto heels with thin straps.
